About CBT
Cognitive Behavior Therapy
Cognitive Behavior Therapy was developed by Dr. Aaron Beck and it has become the most widely researched form of psychotherapy available. It has been proven effective for a broad range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, etc. CBT is based in the idea that our thinking, emotions and behaviors impact each other in a cyclical way. In order to disrupt the cycle, we can target any of those three points: thoughts, emotions or behaviors.
CBT is renowned for being effective, engaged and goal-oriented. We use home practice because we find people make progress faster when they are participating daily, rather that just in the therapy session. We'll chart your progress so you can see how the changes you are making are providing results. In contrast to many forms of therapy, we don't spend a lot of time talking about the past except in how it is impacting you now.
